My recent move to Manitoba Canada has been a real eye opener for me.
The province has some exceptional cross country trails, and a huve passion for cycling in general, but with little to no real advanced bike parks or bike facilities for kids to develop their skills on past a certain point, my focus is now on encouraging council to approve development for several new pumptracks, advancement of mountain bike parks, and development of bmx tracks that will allow kids to grow their skill levels on.
The overall objective is to provide the current and next generations of Manitoba kids with some incredible facilities to enjoy and grow on!
It's safe to say that I have been extremely lucky and spoilt growing up in New Zealand!
BIKING FOR THE NEXT GENERATION!
With the World Record last October being held on the new pumptrack in Sage Creek Winnipeg, we managed to increase the communities awareness of the facility and encourage more use.
Our goal in doing this was to encourage local council to green light two more pumptracks in other areas of the city so that more kids have the opportunity to use tracks closer to their homes.
We have made some huge progress in the awareness area of this endeavour, and are now in the planning stages of proposals, locations, funding, and approval.
I will be working closely with Velosolutions to develop the pumptracks and hopefully see a few more being built soon!
